The Luxury Saleswoman Thought The Quiet Woman In Faded Jeans Was An Easy Target, Until Her Husband Walked In And Locked The Doors – Part 9

Chapter 9: The South Port Ultimatum

The armored sedan lurched forward violently, throwing Khloe deep into the plush leather seats. The transition from quiet, insulated luxury to raw, adrenaline-fueled chaos was instantaneous.

Dominic’s hands moved with terrifying, practiced efficiency. He checked the magazine of his weapon, the metallic clack echoing sharply in the confined space.

“Dominic, what is going on?” Khloe demanded, her voice rising over the sudden roar of the car’s engine. “You just said we were going home.”

“Plans changed,” he replied flatly, not looking at her. He slid the heavy weapon back into his shoulder holster, his eyes completely locked on the rain-slicked road ahead.

“Who touched what is yours?” Khloe pressed, turning her entire body to face him. “Are you talking about the mall? Did someone from the store do something?”

“This has nothing to do with retail, Khloe,” Dominic snapped, the absolute coldness in his voice making her flinch. “This is syndicate business.”

“I am your wife,” she argued, the anger suddenly burning away her lingering exhaustion. “If it involves my safety, it is my business. Tell me what that text message said.”

Dominic finally turned to look at her, his dark eyes flashing with a dangerous, unpredictable intensity. “It said that while I was busy playing savior at a luxury boutique, a rival crew from the East Side moved on one of my shipments.”

He leaned in closer, the scent of gunpowder and mint washing over her. “They left a message on the warehouse door, Khloe. They left a pristine, emerald green crocodile handbag pinned to the steel with a hunting knife.”

The breath completely left Khloe’s lungs. The boutique. The humiliation. The empty concourse.

It hadn’t just been a terrible customer service experience; she had been actively watched.

“They were following me?” she whispered, her hands suddenly trembling uncontrollably. “Someone was watching us in the store?”

“They were tracking you since you left the penthouse yesterday morning,” Dominic stated, his jaw grinding so hard she could hear the faint pop of his joints. “They wanted to see if my focus was compromised. They wanted to know if you were my weak point.”

“And you just proved to them that I am,” Khloe realized, her stomach violently twisting into knots. “By clearing out the mall. By throwing your weight around for a purse.”

“I proved to them that if they even look at you, I will burn their entire world to ash,” Dominic corrected her, his voice dropping into a lethal, terrifying growl. “I don’t have weak points, Khloe. I have boundaries. And they just crossed the final one.”

“So what happens now?” she asked, her voice shaking despite her desperate attempt to stay calm. “You just walk in there and shoot someone?”

“I walk in there, and I find out exactly who signed their own death warrant,” he answered smoothly, checking his encrypted phone one last time. “And you stay in this car with Thomas. The doors lock from the inside. Do not open them for anyone but me.”

In a marriage built on absolute power and dangerous secrets, where is the line between being protected and being a prisoner? Would you stay in the car, or demand to face the threat together?
