The Exhausted Waitress Accidentally Spoke A Secret Mafia Dialect, And The Most Dangerous Man In New York Locked The Doors – Part 12

Chapter 12: The Crimson Balcony

The incredibly opulent historical society fundraiser gala was in full, glorious swing by the time they arrived the following evening.

The massive, glittering ballroom had been transformed into a highly beautiful, deadly battlefield where ancient family loyalties and brutal betrayals played out quietly beneath massive crystal chandeliers and endless champagne toasts.

Arya moved gracefully through the massive crowd on Lucas’s arm. She was wearing a breathtaking, midnight blue silk gown. The heavy silk perfectly concealed both the golden safety deposit box key and the small, loaded pistol Lucas had fiercely insisted she carry in a custom pocket.

“Giani is standing by the east entrance with Carlo and two massive men I do not personally recognize,” Lucas murmured hotly against her ear, his breath warm and steady against her neck as they flawlessly maintained the public charade of a wealthy couple deeply engrossed in each other. “Josephe’s men have just confirmed the critical documents are still highly secure in the bank vault directly across the street.”

The tactical plan was incredibly simple, but massively dangerous. They needed to draw the D’Angelos’ full, undivided attention in the ballroom while Josephe’s trusted grandson discreetly retrieved the explosive evidence from the bank vault using the combined golden keys.

“The courier is currently in position,” Lucas continued, his hand resting warm and heavy against the small of her back as he guided her deliberately toward the massive stone balcony overlooking Fifth Avenue.

Carlo’s aggressive approach was exactly as they had perfectly predicted. He separated from his uncle to intercept them right near the open balcony doors. His handsome face was a flawless mask of practiced, slimy charm that couldn’t possibly disguise the lethal menace in his dead eyes.

“Ms. Cardellini, you look absolutely ravishing tonight,” Carlo purred smoothly. “Perhaps you would deeply honor me with a single dance while Lucas catches up on business with my uncle?”

Before Lucas could violently intervene, Arya stepped boldly forward with a fierce confidence she didn’t entirely feel.

“Actually, Carlo, I was heavily hoping to speak with you privately,” Arya said smoothly.

She watched pure surprise briefly flicker across his arrogant face before it quickly settled into highly smug, disgusting satisfaction as he offered his arm to lead her out onto the freezing balcony.

The night air was brutally cold against her flushed skin as Carlo aggressively pulled the heavy glass balcony doors closed behind them, effectively cutting them off completely from the crowded, noisy ballroom.

“I deeply knew you would eventually recognize the massive financial advantages of our family’s protection over the crumbling Castellinis,” Carlo said, moving much closer with a highly predatory intent that made her skin crawl with revulsion.

“I recognize something,” Arya agreed coldly.

Her numb fingers closed tightly around the cold steel of the small pistol concealed in her dress pocket as she maintained fierce, unbroken eye contact with the terrible man who had helped eagerly orchestrate her parents’ brutal murders.

“I perfectly recognized the D’Angelo family crest on the highly advanced detonator designs in my father’s hidden evidence files,” Arya stated bluntly.

Carlo’s smug expression transformed from arrogant satisfaction to pure, cold fury in an absolute instant. His hand reached violently inside his expensive jacket, grabbing for a weapon.

“You little—” Carlo began, lunging brutally toward her with absolute murderous intent.

He never finished the sentence.

The distinctive, suppressed crack of high-caliber gunfire erupted from the dark street far below. The heavy bullet violently struck Carlo’s shoulder before he could even draw his weapon.

The highly accurate shot came not from Arya’s concealed weapon, but from Lucas’s elite security snipers positioned perfectly on the roof across the street.

Carlo collapsed heavily against the stone railing, gasping in agony. Bright red blood bloomed massively across his pristine white dress shirt, looking exactly like crimson roses falling on fresh snow as police sirens began to wail loudly in the distance.

Lucas burst violently through the glass balcony doors. His weapon was drawn, and his blue eyes were completely wild with a terrifying, protective fury she had never witnessed before.

“Josephe has the evidence entirely secured. The D’Angelo empire permanently falls tonight,” Lucas announced breathlessly, reaching for her frantically with his free hand as heavily armed security teams violently swarmed the ballroom behind him, and undercover federal agents finally emerged from their deep cover to arrest the surviving D’Angelos.
