The Millionaire Kissed The Cleaning Lady To Stop An Arranged Marriage, But Her Next Move Left High Society Speechless – PART 15

Chapter 15: The South Side Wedding

Six months after the most chaotic, scandalous, and romantic proposal in Chicago’s corporate history, Alexander Montgomery stood beneath a makeshift wooden archway, adjusting his bowtie for the fifteenth time in ten minutes.

A warm, gentle breeze rolled off the glittering waters of Lake Michigan.

“Stop aggressively fiddling with your tie,” muttered James, standing dutifully beside him as his best man. “You are going to completely ruin the silk knot.”

“I’m terrified, James,” Alexander admitted, his heart hammering against his ribs as he looked out at the rows of white chairs set up on the grass. “What if she suddenly realizes she can do so much better than me?”

James rolled his eyes. “Alexander, the woman organized an underground militia of janitors to save your entire corporate empire. I highly doubt she is going to stand you up at the altar.”

Across the grassy park, inside a small, rented wooden cabin serving as the bridal suite, Mia was having her own massive panic attack.

“Mom, isn’t this dress way too simple?” Mia asked, staring at her reflection in the full-length mirror.

She had flatly refused the $50,000 designer gowns Eleanor had offered to buy her. Instead, she had chosen a beautiful, flowing white cotton dress with delicate lace sleeves and zero sparkles. It was simple, elegant, and entirely her.

Carmen Gonzalez stepped up behind her daughter, gently adjusting her sheer veil. “Mija, you look absolutely radiant. And besides, that billionaire boy isn’t marrying a piece of fabric. He is marrying your heart.”

Donna, wearing a bright purple bridesmaid dress, laughed out loud. “Mia, you are doing this exactly the way you live your life. Honest, real, and totally unstoppable. It’s perfect.”

The door creaked open, and Nico walked in. He looked healthy, vibrant, and incredibly sharp in a rented black tuxedo. His heart surgery had been a massive success, entirely funded by Montgomery Tech’s new employee healthcare initiative.

“Ready to go, sis?” Nico smiled, his eyes shining. “The groom looks like he’s going to pass out into the lake if you make him wait any longer.”

Meanwhile, the guests were settling into their seats. It was a chaotic, beautiful mix of two entirely different universes that high society had never seen before.

In the absolute front row, Eleanor Montgomery sat shoulder-to-shoulder with Carmen Gonzalez, the two of them aggressively debating the correct way to roast a chicken. Right behind them, elite tech billionaires shared programs with the estate’s gardening staff and cafeteria workers.

A local violinist—a street musician Alexander and Mia had heard playing in the park on their first real date—began playing a soft, acoustic rendition of a classic love song.

Alexander turned toward the aisle, and his heart completely stopped.

Mia was walking toward him, her arm linked tightly with Nico’s. She looked like an absolute angel. That fierce, defiant spark was still in her dark eyes, but it was softened by a deep, overwhelming happiness that made her practically glow in the afternoon sun.

When they reached the altar, Nico kissed his sister’s forehead. He turned to Alexander, shaking his hand firmly.

“Take good care of her, man,” Nico whispered fiercely. “Or I swear, I will hack your company’s mainframe.”

“Don’t worry,” Alexander laughed, tears pricking his eyes as he took Mia’s hands. “I wouldn’t dare.”

The pastor, a young, friendly man who ran a community center on the South Side, smiled at the couple.

“Welcome, everyone, to this incredibly special moment,” the pastor began. “Alexander and Mia chose to celebrate their love here, outdoors, surrounded by the people who truly matter. And before we officially begin, they have written their own vows.”

Alexander took a deep, shaky breath, looking down at Mia’s calloused, beautiful hands.

“Mia. Six months ago, you crashed into my perfectly ordered life and completely destroyed it,” he began, causing a ripple of laughter through the crowd. “You taught me that success isn’t about the money in your bank account, but about the people who actually care if you survive the storm.”

He swallowed hard, a single tear slipping down his cheek.

“You came into my life like a hurricane, destroying all my arrogant certainties. And I am violently grateful for it every single day. Because now, I finally know what it means to wake up wanting to be a better man. For you.”

In the front row, Eleanor discreetly wiped her eyes with a silk handkerchief, while Carmen loudly sobbed into a tissue.

Mia smiled, her own tears flowing freely.

“Alexander,” she whispered, her voice echoing over the microphone. “You are the most stubborn, controlling, and emotionally complicated person I have ever met.”

More laughter erupted from the guests. James nodded in fervent agreement.

“But you are also the most fiercely loyal, generous, and secretly soft-hearted man in the world,” Mia continued, squeezing his hands. “You taught me that love isn’t about agreeing on everything. It’s about choosing to fight the entire world together when you have to. You showed me that sometimes, it’s worth taking a massive risk for something real.”

The pastor smiled warmly. “Let’s have the rings.”

James handed Alexander a simple, understated gold band. Alexander slid it onto Mia’s finger, his hands shaking. Mia did the same for him.

“Then, by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the pastor declared joyfully. “Alexander, you may finally kiss the bride!”

Alexander didn’t hesitate. He pulled Mia against his chest and kissed her with a fierce, passionate desperation that promised a lifetime of adventure. The crowd completely erupted into deafening cheers, applause, and loud whistles from the cleaning staff.

As they pulled apart, laughing breathlessly, Mia suddenly reached into a hidden pocket of her dress. She pulled out a small handful of raw white rice and playfully tossed it directly at Alexander’s expensive shoes.

“What are you doing?!” he laughed, dodging the grains.

“It’s a family tradition!” Mia yelled over the cheering crowd. “Rice means prosperity! And it also means that while you might be the CEO of the company…”

She grabbed his lapels and pulled him back in for another kiss.

“…I am officially the boss of your heart.”

Alexander laughed, a deep, resonant sound that echoed across the lake. “Always in charge, huh?”

“Always,” she promised.

And as the sun began to set in a brilliant blaze of gold and pink over Lake Michigan, Alexander and Mia walked back down the aisle together. Two completely different worlds, forged into one unbreakable empire.
